This character was based on my own personal concept derived from Chinese folklore of the Monkey King. I used this project as an opportunity to learn Substance Painter and further develop my stylistic modeling skills. Sculpting/Modeling was done predominantly with ZBrush with Maya for the retopo and rigging/weighting. MoCap was added through the use of MotionBuilder and integrated into Unreal Engine 4. The final Real Time version was rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 2 with the Hi Rez clay renders done in Vray. I learnt a lot through this project and though I still see a lot of improvements that I could make with it I needed to put it to bed and move on. Overall I am quite happy with the way it turned out, although I would have liked to place him in a much more developed environment. This character was made for my own personal reel and not for any commercial use. Thank you for any and all C&C.
